SELF-TALK Matters:

How the Messages We Carry Impact Our Job Search and Life

Guest Speaker: Rick Wemple

Rick Wemple is a Running Coach; Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, including a specialization in Behavior Change; and a Mental Skills Coach.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Rick started his career as a track & field athlete at Yale University where he earned a degree in Biology.  Wemple held school records in the mile (4:04.54) and the 1500 meters (3:42.09) as well as the Distance Medley Relay and 4x800 meter relay and earned All-American honors in cross country in 1991.  Rick earned a master’s degree in Exercise Science from Ohio State University in 1994 and returned to Yale to work in an exercise physiology lab and volunteer coach for the cross country and track & field teams.  Rick coached at Brown University from 1998-2005 before moving to Chicago to coach at Lewis University (2005-06) and finally Loyola University (2006-2011).

Rick knows a thing or two about losing a job.  He was let go from Loyola University in 2011.  His workshop at CTC is based on the tools and techniques he benefitted from to foster and grow his self-esteem and confidence that resulted in the growth and success of his private coaching business.  The basic foundation is identifying all of our gifts/talents/treasures inside us, and by affirming those on a regular basis, seeing our decisions and actions lead us towards inner peace, fulfillment and abundance.
